Dear Arizona,
Firstly, I apologize for not writing you as much as I had planed, my beautiful desert home I miss so much. Since my last update, I have done many things that are blog-worthy. My Halloween weekend could be accurately described as terrible, but then I would be discounting the good things that did, definitely, happen. I turned nineteen a week ago and many great things happened on that Tuesday. I got many birthday hugs and good wishes (and some gifts from friends and family!), and I had a fire in the forest surrounded by incredible people. I was in my first improv show! We had two this last Friday an Saturday and they were a lot like my experience on Splash Mountain: absolutely terrifying but totally exhilarating. I went to a sketch writing meeting yesterday. I began decorating my room. I painted some new pieces that aren’t finished but will be hung in my room. I bought peanut-butter and tea at (and became a member of!) the co-op. I learned of the possibilities of audio recording on my computer and sang a beautiful duet cover that will be the beginning of my recording experiments! And, I just finished eating some dark chocolate peanut m&m’s after spending a few hours in the forest around the fire with friends. (See: new stick from the fire and smudged charcoal face…)
And now, I vow to update regularly, because frankly, it’s too difficult for me to try an summarize my last two weeks while doing them justice and I don’t want to be such a lag. The leaves have been changing. The air has been getting colder. Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I will be back yo you in two weeks! But, before that, I will be having a fancy “family” dinner here with non-traditional Thanksgiving food and lots o’ looooovee. (As we do here; non-traditional and full of love.)
So, while I brew some hot water for tea and I think of doing some more notes for my super, awesome, totally-stress-worthy comic (which may or may not happen… the note-doing tonight, I mean. The comic is definitely happening), I will also upload a plethora of pictures so you can see what I’ve been up to, AZ.
Missing some people, but hello, that is one real smile on my face.
Thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday and sent their love. I truly appreciate it. And, I will see you (weather warmer than the average 40 degrees- wowza!) on the 22nd.
Sending love home always,
E.
ps. the picture of the cupcake? Yeah, it was a vegan chai blackberry cupcake. Happy birthday to me? I certainly think so.
pps. The next two posts will be:
1. miscellaneous things I’ve taken pictures of, such as nature or eyeballs, etc..
2. How my room is coming along, as I have made some changes and added beautiful little things.
please check out Therese Schroeder-Sheker on line. She's a thanotologist (you will want to know what that is) a voice (and harp) artist, and dean of a small college devoted to music therapy. I just have this feeling that she might be a great person to try to talk to, and potential resource for your studies.
